Check out the winners of the first Biosphere Summer Photo Contest

The votes are in, and congratulations to the winners of the first Biosphere Summer Photo Contest: First place goes to Professor Tim Karels’ image of an elk caring for her newborn calf; second place, to Angelina Piette’s view of a brilliant orange eyelash pit viper; and third place, to Max Sprute’s capture of a rufous hummingbird hovering over a flower. These three photographers have each won Bookshop.org gift cards, good for purchases from a nationwide network of independent booksellers.

Thanks to everyone who entered photos in the contest, and here’s hoping we’ll see more remarkable images of the living world next year!
