Colloquium: Riggs explains how mitosis divvies up a cell’s organelles

Dr. Riggs (SFSU website)

The Spring 2025 Biology Colloquium Series continues this Friday with a seminar by Blake Riggs, Professor and Chair of Biology at San Francisco State University. Dr. Riggs studies the movement of organelles during cell division, particularly the division of the endoplasmic reticulum, which ultimately shapes the form and function of the daughter cells produced by mitosis. His talk, presented with support from URISE/Brides to the Doctorate, will be titled “Organelle dynamics during cell division: a pathway towards the generation of cell diversity”.

Colloquium series seminars are held Fridays at 2pm in Chaparral Hall room 5125.
