CSUN Biology major Carmen Hernandez-Perez received a presentation award at the 2022 Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minoritized Scientists, held in Anaheim, California last week. Hernandez-Perez, a BUILD PODER scholar working with Assistant Professor of Biology Melissa Takahashi, presented results from her summer research experience in the laboratory of Michael Baym at Harvard University, in a poster titled “Identifying Phage Receptors Using the Mixed Community Plaque Assay”.
