Malachia Hoover, who earned her Master’s degree in Biology as part of CSUN’s RISE program, has been named a recipient of the prestigious Ford Foundation Fellowship.
Malachia worked in Dr. Jonathan Kelber’s lab while she was at CSUN and is currently a second year graduate student at Stanford University. The Ford Fellowship, which aims to diversify the professoriate of US colleges and universities, has a success rate for Pre-doctoral Fellows of roughly 3-4%. In addition to have a strong academic record and an outstanding research proposal successful applicants also have a history of long-term involvement in diversity present evidence of how they will use their diversity in their scholarship and teaching.
