BUILD PODER marks seven years of boosting student success through research experiences

BUILD PODER, the NIH-funded program that supports CSUN students in undergraduate research experiences marks its seventh year of funding in 2022. The program’s leadership has released data tracking how BUILD bolstered student success, greater graduation rates, and enrollment in graduate programs.

Of 106 BUILD participants enrolled in the CSUN College of Science and Mathematics, 75 have graduated (and the rest are on track to finish before the program concludes in 2024), and 56% have enrolled in graduate programs in STEM. Of the CSM BUILD participants, 64% have been women, and 60% have minoritized racial or ethnic identities, demonstrating the program’s success at its intended goal of broadening participation in research.
